Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Leaked Photos Reveal Surprising Game-Changing Feature

Anew set of leaked photos showing the almost finished Microsoft Surface Duo 2 prototype has surfaced online, revealing the device’s color variants, as well as the surprising triple-lens external camera setup.

The images first appeared on YouTube. The Redmond-based company is planning to release the Surface Duo 2 with three external cameras, Windows Central reported.

The camera setup reportedly consists of a standard lens, a telephoto lens and an ultrawide angle lens. There is also a bump located at the rear of the device, which resembles the one found in most flagship Android smartphones. The leaked Microsoft Surface Duo 2 photos revealed that the device would be available in two color variants — black and white.

Visible in the photos is the frosted glass on the outside and the absence of the fingerprint reader. It appears that the reader has been moved somewhere, probably in the device’s power button. Microsoft has also seemingly repositioned the USB port, which is now seen on the right-hand portion of the device.

Earlier rumors claimed that the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 would launch with minor design changes. It is believed that most of the changes would be on the camera system and the internal specifications of the device. Rumors have it that the device would house the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, an NFC chip for contactless payments and a 5G support.

The upcoming device is expected to release sometime in September or October and will feature flagship specs for 2021. Based on rumors and leaks, it seems that the Redmond-based tech titan will stick with its separate screens design instead of changing to a truly foldable display device.

The company would probably launch the device with Android 11, which, unfortunately, is still not in Microsoft Surface Duo.
